Serial & Parallel Loop Back Plugs

High quality, fully molded, serial & parallel loopback plugs.
These plugs are designed to work in conjunction with BurnInTest Professional. They plug into the serial and parallel ports of your computer and allow the looping of the data and signal path by joining the transmit and receive pins together.

Loop back plugs are the quickest, most effective way to test that a PC's serial ( RS232) and parallel ports are working correctly. These adapters allow more effective diagnostic and troubleshooting of problems affecting serial and parallel ports.

In addition to testing the receive and transmit function, the following RS232 signal pins are also tested by the serial plug.

  • Clear To Send (CTS)
  • Request to Send (RTS)
  • Data Set Ready (DSR)
  • Data terminal ready (DTR)
  • The serial plug is a 9 pin female plug.
  • The parallel plug is a 25 pin male plug.

USB2.0 Loop Back Tester

High quality, loopback plugs for USB 2.0 troubleshooting and USB2.0 testing. (Also works on USB 1.0/1.1 ports)
USB Loopback plugs can be used to help diagnose, troubleshoot and load test your PC. When used with the BurnInTest Professional software package V4.0 or higher and USB2Test Software, it is possible to.

  • Quickly check if a USB port is powered
  • Check that data can be sent and received from the port
  • Check USB errors rates and transmission speed (up to 480Mbits/sec)
  • Measure the level of recovered data (retransmitted frames)
  • Verify that the system remains stable under long periods of load
  • Test that USB support in Windows has been correctly installed
  • Test self powered USB hubs and PC ports function correctly
  • Check USB cabling
  • Concurrently check multiple USB ports at the same time.
  • Benchmark your PC's USB ports & hubs.
  • Check if your PC ports are high speed 480Mbits/sec (USB 2.0), or full speed 12Mbits/sec (USB 1.x) via a LED
  • Active loopback plugs are the quickest, most effective way to verify that a PC's USB ports are working correctly. The
  • Red, Green and Yellow LED's on the front of this USB adapter plug provide a quick visual indication of I/O activity and if the USB bus is powered. This will dramatically improve the troubleshooting and diagnostic ability of computer technicians and system integrators, who have previously been working blind.

In benchmark mode, the device is capable of reaching the maximum defined transfer speed for USB2.0 (480Mbit/sec). Note: Testing has shown that most PC's can not attain speeds much above 300Mbits/sec and performance will vary depending on your motherboard, CPU and other USB devices connected to the PC.

Up to 10 of these USB test plugs can be simultaneously connected to a PC providing that free USB ports are available on the PC or on a down stream hub and sufficient power is available.

These plugs are unique! They are the only true USB 2.0 loop back adapters on the market and have been especially designed for use with our BurnInTest Professional software package or USB2Test stand alone software supplied with the plug. They do not require an external power supply and do not require a connection to any other port on a PC. Each plug also has its own serial number stored in EPROM, on the plug, so it is possible to identify each plug when multiple plugs are connected.

Each plug also contains its own CPU and executes its own firmware (which can be upgraded in the future by download)

    Test CDs & Test DVDs

High quality data CDs and dual layer DVDs for testing CD and DVD Drives.
Test CDs and DVDs can be used to help diagnose, troubleshoot and load test your PC. When used with the BurnInTest Professional software package, it is possible to:

    • Check that your CD or DVD drive can read data and seek between files.
    • Benchmark the speed of your drive using a standardised disc.
    • Check that your CD and DVD drive can read data at both extremities of the disc (the inner and outer edges).
    • Check every bit of data read from the CD or DVD is 100% correct.
    • Check that your DVD drive can correctly read both the top and bottom layers of a dual layer DVD.
    • The test DVD is a DVD-9 which means that it is a single-sided double-layered disc offering 8.5GB of storage. The CD contains 700MB of data. Both discs are manufactured by pressing (not burning) because pressed discs offer a higher level of reflectivity compared to burnt discs. Higher reflectivity leads to higher reliability and less read errors. It is also not currently possible to burn a dual layer DVD, which is why burnt DVDs have a much lower capacity.

    How do they work?

These test discs contain a number of files which completely fill each disc. Each file contains a predetermined sequence of binary data. This same data sequence has been programmed into BurnInTest Professional so that when the disc is read each byte can be checked to see if it is the correct value. If an incorrect value is read, BurnInTest Professional flags this as an error.

    Compatibility
The discs are compatible with all PC CD and DVD drives.
The discs can be used with both the basic and professional versions of BurnInTest. Version 3.0 or above is required.
The discs are compatible with all versions of windows (but you may also want to check the requirements for the BurnInTest Professional software)
These discs can also be used with the next version of PerformanceTest (version 4.0) to do detailed CD and DVD drive benchmarking.
